Following up on the success of his critically acclaimed Breez Deez Treez, New York MC Breez Evahflowin is out to demonstrate he’s back for good, offering a new “free-p” of music to show his gratitude to the fans, critics, and blogs who helped make his latest album such a positive success.

Breez Treez Free is a free downloadable EP, featuring the original DJ Static premixes of When You Fall, and I Failed.  As founding members of the underground Stronghold rap collective, Breez and DJ Static bring us back to the beginnings -  before the accomplished battle MC took a hiatus in the mountains of North Carolina to pen Breez Deez Treez.

Giving listeners a taste of both past and future, the free download also features exclusive Daveytree remixes of Money Don’t Love MeTryin To Hold On, and Matador, originally released on the Breez Evahflowin and Dirt. E. Dutch collaboration Troublemakers.

Rounding out the free offering is a bonus freestyle track, which finds Breez back in “Loud-ass Midtown Manhattan,” reflecting on the creation of Breez Deez Treez and looking toward the future.  Featuring shout-outs to all the people who made the CD possible, from Bay Area producer Deezlee and MCs Dojah and Symphonic, to longtime friends and Harlem-based Swave Sevah and Ike P.  Breez also hints at things to come with a forthcoming new project in collaboration with producer Daveytree expected to be released in Fall 2010 on Domination Recordings.

Nina Simone: “Why?” (the king of love is dead)

” [The] present program, presented to a capacity audience at Westbury, Long Island, on the evening following the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King, is highlighted by a song written upon that day by Gene Taylor, Nina’s bass player. Why? (The King of Love Is Dead) has the immediacy of a headline, the poignancy of tears for a loved one and the relevance of a siren in the night.” -Nat Shapiro

so here’s, a couple samples of the new stuff made from old jam tape samples. the trick was finding little pieces without any singing, so they could chopped up into loops. you know how it is… :-\

these should be ’bout ready for some nice vocal sounds.

Happy New Years and Old (part1)

it’s been too long since i posted any music, so i thought i’d put up a little bit of the new stuff i’m workin on.

this first track is actually *old* - a cassette tape recording from the tip-top lounge in SF, 1998.

i’ve been goin’ back to a lot of these old recordings and making new stuff out of them… it’s a challenge, but it’s kinda fun.

it’s also kinda funny how at the time we were playing music we wanted it to sound like something you would sample from, and here i am, almost 10 years later doing just that.

(in part 2 i’ll post an example of a new song made from old jams)

It’s been too long since I posted some tunes for your listening pleasure, so I thought I’d share a couple new remixes exclusively for the Deezlee.com folks. These were both recently submitted for remix contests for the artists, so I’m sure they won’t mind me sharing them here.

Talib Kweli w/Dr. Cornel West: Bushonomics

Its been too long since I posted any tunez, so here goes:

Breez was generous enough to post some accas for hungry beatmakers to work on…

Deadline is August, and its July 29 so I guess my time is about up! Thought I would share my results with the Deezlee Fam…

Workin’ with accapellas is one of the funnest things for a beatmaker (at least fun for me)… Thanks for the material Breez! Lookin forward to hearing what others have done with these vocals.

Peace,

Daveytree
