Imagine yourself in a backstage room with nine of your peers, all waiting for the same thing. Waiting to be picked by your new professional football team to go on to your fabulous career as a quarterback in the NFL, getting millions of dollars and all that good stuff that goes along with being a rockstar stud football player. Then imagine the pain and fear as all nine players around you going one by one to their new teams and you are still sitting there alone. Notre Dame star QB Brady Quinn was once considered the top pick in the NFL draft but when the Miami Dolphins passed up on picking him at the number nine pick a lot of questions started to arise in everyones minds, i can only imagine what Brady was thinking.
For those that don’t know, every year pro teams get to pick college players from a large list. the picking order goes basically in order from worst team first to superbowl champ last and then repeats for 7 rounds. the top picked players are guaranteed some kind of serious signing bonus money and for every pick the player not getting picked loses about 1.5 million dollars!!! (that’s in the first round)
Brady Quinn was potentially gonna be picked 3rd giving him a huuuuuuge signing bonus. When the Browns passed, it looked like for sure he would at the latest go 9th, still giving him well above 20 million. Well, he didn’t go ninth, and the slide began. 1.5 million dollars everytime someone else’s name got called for another team! every 7 minutes or so, another team would pick…… and BAAAAAM! Brady Quinn lost another mill and a half. crazy.
of course Brady Quinn eventually got picked at number 22 by the same team that people projected would pick him at number 3 for about 25 million more!! what a world. Of course Quinn will probably still make a ton of money, but not as much as number one and two picks JaMarcus Russell and Calvin Johnson will make……….Guaranteed!
picks one, two, and…………..twenty two

While recently moving, I came across a stash of old jam tapes. This is Noah on the found BELTDRIVE jenkins turntable + Chris J on the found Roland Mark I keyboard + me on drums. The location is the basement of my old pad in the Berkeley Hills around ‘96. Two mics recorded to a cassette tape, one on the floor next to the drums, the other on the floor near the guitar amp (keyboard) and jenkins distorted speaker for the turntable.
You have to be in the right mood to listen to music like this… this is krust from the magnetic tape of a cassette 10 years old. I hope someone will get some enjoyment out of listening to it.
